Emily Ellison


Emily ​Ellison, ​an​ award-winning children's music performer,​ runs a rollicking family music sing-along Hootenanny every Second Saturday of the month right here at The Beacon Music Factory. By day, she is a music therapist at Mid-Hudson Regional Early Education Center for Children with Special Needs. With a Master's Degree in Childhood Education American Sign Language and Spanish in her bag of tricks, Ellison has met the needs of thousands of kids in NY City Public and private schools, Montessori Schools and the School for the Deaf in Brooklyn. She was a favorite sing along performer at The ​New York Public Libraries, The Queen's Public Libraries, MOMA-P.S.1, The Staten Island Children's Museum​,​ and scores of libraries and schools across the tri-state area.​ Ellison joys in sharing old-time family folk music, a la Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Ella Jenkins, and Mary Poppins. She plays piano, guitar and ukulele and sings her original songs for every occasion.



In the summer of 2016, she donned a cherry red nose and joined clown-doctor Patch Adams in Costa Rica, where she learned how to be a musical clown healer to families in need.
