BEAR & THE UNRELIABLE BEASTIARY @ Beacon Music Factory

BEAR & THE UNRELIABLE BEASTIARY @ Beacon Music Factory

Playwright/media-artist Deke Weaver’s life-long project, The Unreliable Bestiary, is presenting an enormous site-specific performance for every letter of the alphabet, each letter represented by an endangered animal or habitat. With unlikely stories from our precarious moment in natural history, this solo event features cinematic documentation & live excerpts from The Bestiary’s first four performances: MONKEY, ELEPHANT, WOLF, and BEAR.

Funny, haunting, and unexpected, the work might feel like it's born from a slippery Miranda July, Barry Lopez, Terence Malick, Laurie Anderson, Spalding Gray, David Cale, Wes Anderson love-nest (don't spend too much time thinking about that literally).

A Guggenheim Fellow, five-time MacDowell Colony fellow, and Creative Capital grantee, Deke Weaver’s work has been presented by PBS, the Sundance Film Festival, Channel 4/U.K., the New York Video Festival at Lincoln Center, the Chicago Humanities Festival, the Berlin Video Festival, The Moth, and many others including livestock pavilions, backyard sheds, national parks, night clubs, and living rooms.

Presented as part of Beacon Music Factory's LOUD SOFT LOUD Concert Series.
